#SYRIAMEDICS: Syria medical training appeal
We are providing medical up-skilling and training programmes for Syrian doctors, nurses and paramedics operating inside the country. We also deliver medical equipment and we support medics in Syria through our containers appeal.
The Syrian healthcare system is in collapse. The country has lost 55% of its medical personnel. The remaining medics have to operate outside their area of expertise. There has been a ‘brain-drain’ as medics flee to neighbouring countries.
There is also a dire need for suitable medical equipment.
An up-skilling programme for medics to be led by Arabic-speaking medics from Ireland and the UK in Southern Turkey. We are producing training materials for medics and the wider public as part of a general medical and first-aid programme.
We supply medical equipment and help support Syrian medics administering to their own communities.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
If you are an Arabic-speaking medic in Ireland: Participate in our upskilling programme and provide your Syrian colleagues with the training they need.

We Can All Help, If You Want To Help In Other Ways:
For the training programme: It costs €1,000 to train each participating medic in Gaziantep. Find out all about fundraising here.
Contribute to our fund supporting medics’ (and their families’) living expenses helping keep them in their hospitals, clinics or ambulances saving lives.
Imagine if your workplace or community could say that it funded a doctor, nurse or paramedic in Syria who saved dozens of lives daily. Use the donation space to the right or call us on (01) 2910006
Help towards meeting our transport costs (each container costs €7,000 to prepare and deliver to Syria in fuel, shipping, taxes and fees and distribution costs).
Just €20 will meet the costs of shipping 20 kg of equipment to Syria.Save a life in Syria
Our projects are based on sustainable solutions to urgent needs. Local solutions to local issues. Our job is to support individuals and communities so as to help them to provide their own solutions.
We call our Syrian doctors our 'healthcare heroes' because that’s exactly what they are.
They travel at considerable danger to themselves out of the conflict zone across the border to our programme in Turkey AND THEN THEY RETURN BACK to their communities where they risk their lives daily to help their fellow citizens.
THEY NEED ALL THE SUPPORT WE CAN GIVE THEM.
