Those who spend their wealth [in Allah’s way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly - they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve. (Quran 2:274)

Almost a decade of conflict has left 11 million Syrians in need of humanitarian aid. As a result of the conflict, the country’s economy has collapsed, homes, hospitals, markets, and schools have been decimated and families have lost their loved ones. Millions have lost their livelihoods and plunged into poverty.

6.1 million Syrians remain internally displaced and about 5.6 million have fled the country. Now, another winter is here, and devastated families fear losing more loved ones as they brace themselves for the extreme temperature changes, the strong winds, the heavy rains, and flooding that this cold season brings.

When winter is fatal, we need to act.

During winter the temperature drops at night, proving fatal for vulnerable people who lack adequate shelter, warm clothing, enough food, and medicine. More lives will be lost if we do not take action.

“if anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of the whole humanity.” (Quran 5:32)

Through our Winter Appeal, we are distributing emergency winter kits to help displaced families in Idlib and Aleppo. Some of the families are female-headed and single-mother households. Some include wounded and elderly, some members with chronic illnesses, or pregnant and lactating mothers. We need your support to help them.

Winter can be fatal. We need to intervene immediately and save lives. We are counting on you to do this. Our work is only possible with your support.

Our winter family emergency kits contain sleeping mats, blankets, rugs, shelter reinforcement, fuel for heating, and soap to protect families from Covid-19 too.
