Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "If anyone relieves a Muslim believer from one of the hardships of this worldly life, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection." (Muslim)

An unprecedented monsoon season has devastated the lives of vulnerable communities across Pakistan. Nearly 1,000 people have died, including hundreds of children. Homes, livestock, farmland and entire lives have been lost to the raging currents.

€50 – Provides a hot, nutritious meal to 20 flood-affected people daily.

€40 – Supplies a family with essential hygiene and household items to protect against disease, including anti – bacterial handwashing soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, nail cutters, hair combs, towels, tarpaulin sheets, plastic mats, buckets and water bottles.

Everything lost to water

This monsoon season is unlike any other in Pakistan. Instead of the usual river flooding, monstrous rains have now also caused unprecedented urban flooding, flash floods, and severe inundations due to glacier bursts. Several regions across the country have been hit with three to five times more rainfall than usual.

The most affected have been the regions of Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab where almost 700,000 homes, nearly 800,000 livestock 3,000 km of the roadway and more than 145 bridges have been damaged or destroyed.

Now, internet outages have been reported making travel and communication nearly impossible for those displaced and in need of assistance. The devastation is beyond catastrophic, with tens of millions of vulnerable people homeless, uprooted from their communities, and facing a forecast of more rain and flooding as dams and waterways rapidly fill.

Across these flood-hit regions, fleeing to higher ground is ever more precarious with raging flood waters seemingly everywhere. Still, flood-affected survivors urgently need medical aid, food, clean water, and adequate shelter. And Pakistan hasn’t seen the last of this devastation with even more rain, more flooding, and a potential ninth monsoon cycle expected.

To survive this life-threatening flooding, Pakistan urgently needs emergency assistance. We need your help. Human Appeal is responding to the current emergency situation with thousands of hot meals for families in all flood-affected areas, including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh.

We are also supporting public health measures to stop the spread of diseases, including water-borne illnesses like cholera. Human Appeal is providing hundreds of family hygiene kits and household items like tarps, jerry cans, and buckets.
