Build a water well
“Every prophet has a companion in paradise,” said the Prophet (PBUH) “My companion there is Uthman.”
Despite his great wealth and successful businesses, the Prophet’s companion, Uthman ibn Affan lived a simple life, spending his wealth to help others, particularly by providing free water from his well.

Today, 2.2 billion people don’t have reliable access to safe drinking water – that’s 1 in 3 people. Collectively, women and girls spend 200 million hours every day collecting water – that’s time they should be able to spend at school, earning money, or looking after crops and livestock. Nobody should be trapped in a cycle of poverty because they’re forced to spend their entire life fetching water just to survive.
When early Muslims migrated from Mecca to Medina, they found themselves facing a severe water shortage. Uthman heard that people in Ramwah, Medina, were paying extortionate prices to drink from a water well, so he bought the well, and offered everyone as much clean water as they needed for free.
When another Sahabi offered to buy the well of him, Uthman said he has been offered much more than the sum offered, a reward of Allah:
“Allah has offered ten times the reward for charity given to Muslims,” he said.
Today, Uthman’s well continues to provide clean water to the community, over 1,400 years later. A true, priceless Sadaqah Jariyah.

The Prophet (PBUH) described providing drinking water as the best charity. A well is a Sadaqah Jariyah; when you provide a water well to a vulnerable community, you reap the rewards for years to come.
We’ll even place a plaque in your name on the well, and send you a report on when and where your well was installed.
Or you can donate the well in the name of a loved one, and they’ll reap the endless rewards of this charity – even after they are gone.

Nobody should be so desperate that they resort to drinking contaminated water. Nobody should be forced to risk their child’s life.
