The war in Iraq has thankfully abated, but the consequences for the civilian population will continue to be very sever for a long time.
There are 8.2 million in need (according to UNOCHA). Nearly four million of these are children. 2.1 million people (over 1 million children) remain displaced. Many living in camps.
They still need access to food and clean water. The children need to be educated and helped to get their lives back to normal.
Returnees are finding their homes barely inhabitable and unsafe and will need help for log into the future. There is a huge funding gap in aid provision with almost half of the $101m needed already provided. Our governments are just not meeting the need, so we as concerned humanitarians have to.Donate a family food parcel and save lives
Working through our office in Erbil, we were the first INGO to access and establish direct humanitarian operations in west Mosul. Our work includes providing Internally Displaced People (IDPs) and host communities with emergency relief, protection, food security, livelihood support, healthcare, education and access to water, sanitation and hygiene.
In Mosul’s newly liberated areas, we have been giving out food aid, hygiene kits and setting up cash-for-work opportunities. We have also started water trucking in West Mosul and installed 18 water tanks to supply water to over 10,000 IDPs in Al- Amal.
Our relief teams staff a mobile medical clinic providing specialist consultant services in four camps and are rehabilitating 30 schools in east Mosul.
Human Appeal has set up an emergency relief operation inside Mosul, delivering food, shelter and winter kits to thousands of people there.
HUMAN APPEAL IRELAND HAS WORKED ON THE GROUND IN IRAQ AND WE ARE MAKING AN APPEAL TO OUR DONORS TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE RELIEF EFFORT.
We will need your support to get this aid to those who need it most.Donate a family food parcel and save lives
