Containers Shipment Appeal

Human Appeal Ireland are working in Syria and the surrounding region helping to provided for the innocent victims of the recent upsurge in violence in the country. Without your help we cannot reach the and give assistance to those who are in desperate need.

Good News!

We have two containers full of Essential Shoes and Clothes ready to go to Syria. This includes €118,000 worth of boxed, new clothing from a generous donor, the JBS Group. These are exactly the sort materials needed in Syria, strong boots and shoes, heavy duty clothing that will last and wear well.  These exactly what is needed for the condition there.

Problem:

Each container costs €7,000 to ship, truck and distribute - none of these costs are administative. So we need donations to cover these costs or the materials just won't get there.

Donate on using the panel on the left sidebar and help us reach our target of €14,000.

Remember little things can make a big difference

Below are images from our recent Damascus Distribution. The costs of the distribution were also covered entirely through generous donations through our container appeal. There are 40,000 people in the Damascus region that are now receiving aid which was donated by individuals and communities throughout Ireland.

We still have more essential materials in our warehouse in Dublin which we will be shipping to Syria. And would be very grateful for any help we receive to help us get these supplies to the most needy of recipients in the troubled region.

We are currently receiving a massive outpouring of generosity from the Irish people as they collect essential materials for us to ship to our staff in Syria. However, it costs €7,500 to transport each container from Dublin to the region (this includes customs, shipping and transportation). We keep our costs as low as possible and use the best, cheapest third-party transport options.

We've gathered in donations from around the country from a huge range of sources to send aid to Syria alone. Some of this has consisted of clothes and blankets, some of medical supplies (though we always try to include some items, such as sports gear and toys that help to demonstrate to the beneficiaries that we know there's more to life than survival). Below is a  list of some of the shipments we've put together and their contents.

Witnessing the importance of the donations

The value of these donations is almost inestimable. Our staff and volunteers alike who have been on hand to distribute the donations, have seen just what the clothes and other supplies mean to the people who receive them.

I recall when visiting a camp in the province of Idlib, witnessing how important donations of clothes and other vital supplies were to those people. A small donation of clothes arrived and the women were distributing it gladly immediately, obviously heartened to have received what was desperately needed. There were no washing facilities there, and during the winter months flooding, snow, and freezing temperatures made it impossible to stay warm in the camps.
